Avast! Antivirus is a free home protection anti-virus program. I got recommended to use it by my uncle and we finally ditched Norton once and for all. Avast was better, and didn’t have the yearly fees. It really scans deep into the hard drive and finds viruses. Version five came out recently and I decided to upgrade, and it’s much, much better.
Avast! Antivirus 5 has a full interface change. It’s much easier to navigate now, all your settings and scan options are in one dialog instead of two. In version 4, to do a scan you had to right-click the icon and click scan, but unless you knew that you’d spend a long time trying to find it because you thought the scan options would be on the main interface when you double click the icon. But now they combined the screens, and it’s much easier to navigate! This is one of the best changes.
More features they added are better scanning and anti-virus engines, so your computer is even better protected. It’ll catch more viruses now! They also added a gaming/silent mode, so you don’t get pop-up’s and alerts while your playing your video games; we all know how annoying it is when it kicks you out of your game every time you get a popup!
Overall I am very happy with Avast! Antivirus 5 and I think the new update is really cool.
